Abstract. The problem of forming a constructive civic position of the younger generation, due to its potential significance for Russian society, is currently one of the most pressing, since during this period of personal development is the most fertile time for raising a citizen and patriot of one’s country. The idea of patriotism acts as the value basis for education organized in the system of military-political work; it, of course, needs a national ideology, fully formulated, reflecting the interests of Russian society and serving as a vector for its development. Educational work in the Armed Forces, aimed at developing patriotism and citizenship, is one of the main components of army reform at the present stage, when the role and importance of the spiritual factor as a fundamental and stabilizing principle in the life of the army is significantly increasing. The specifics of military service, combined with the patriotic education of the defenders of the Fatherland, determine the importance of the spiritual factor for the army, which manifests itself in the meaning and purpose of a warrior. The success of preparation for military service largely depends on the degree of self-realization of each serviceman in the process of performing their daily duties. The implementation of an axiological approach to military-patriotic education in domestic pedagogy at the present stage is dictated by such factors as awareness of the importance of the enduring value of a strong civic position, patriotism for Russian citizens, especially in the modern situation for those called upon to defend the borders of their Motherland in a difficult military-political situation.

Keywords: military-patriotic education, axiological approach, civic position, patriotism, homeland, fatherland.
