Abstract. Global processes in society have also affected the sphere of education. The Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On the Declaration of the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation” laid the foundation for improving the interaction between science, business, government, and society. Within the framework of the national project “Science and Universities”, integrated scientific-educational and scientific-production structures of a global scale are being formed, by combining the resources of stakeholders, the level of regional systems of higher education and science is increasing. One of the initiatives of the project is the creation of campuses – a structure that involves the formation of a new type of infrastructure for the implementation of advanced educational and scientific projects, creating conditions for the influx of foreign students, organizing internal mobility of students and teachers, which will significantly strengthen the interaction of the education system, science, and the real sector of the economy. Pacific National University became the platform for the creation of an interuniversity campus. This is one of the main projects of the flagship initiative of the unified regional development strategy “Land of Innovation and New Opportunities”. The implementation of the strategy is based on design solutions. The object of the study was the Institute of Socio-Political Technologies and Communications within the structure of the Pacific National University. The implementation of strategic projects involves initiatives from the teaching staff and students. During the research, a survey was conducted among students at the Institute of Socio-Political Technologies and Communications. The purpose of the survey is to identify students’ attitudes towards project activities and the reasons holding back initiatives. The creation at the institute of an integrated interdisciplinary model that unites students to create and implement projects, in our opinion, can be considered as a point of growth. Wide coverage of students studying in various areas at the institute, integration of knowledge, experience, incl. based on network interaction will allow you to carry out projects to solve university and regional problems.

Keywords: educational environment, project activities, integration, model for the formation of professional competencies, student initiatives.
