Abstract. The article presents the theoretical foundations and results of a study of the characteristics of adaptation of migrant children to the educational environment of primary school. The subject of the study: primary schoolchildren adaptation – migrants’ children – to the educational environment. The aim of the article: to identify and analyze typical problems of migrant children in adaptation to primary school. Research methods: analysis, synthesis, comparison, juxtaposition and generalization of scientific and experimental data, questionnaires, testing, projective method. The study is based on an understanding the adaptation of migrant children to school as a multicomponent process, including linguistic, social, cultural and psychological components. Appropriate diagnostic material was selected and applied to obtain information about the adaptation features of primary schoolchildren of migrants studying in educational institutions in Novosibirsk. The study revealed a number of problems in the adaptation of migrant children to primary school: a large number of children with insufficient knowledge of the Russian language, gaps in sociocultural adaptation, serious psychological problems of children, which allows us to conclude that there is a lack of an integrated approach in the work of teachers to stimulate the adaptation of migrant children to the educational environment. These facts dictate teachers to carry out targeted work on all components of migrant children adaptation to the educational environment. The adaptation process should be managed by the educational organization, the teacher, and aimed at including migrant children in the educational space, also must count their individual psychological characteristics. Productive adaptation will allow for the further development of migrant children, taking into account their ethnocultural characteristics. At the same time, successful social and pedagogical adaptation of a migrant child is possible only with the joint work of teachers at the educational organization both with the child himself and with his parents, as well as with the students and their parents.

Keywords: adaptation of migrant children to school, problems of adaptation, language adaptation, socio-cultural adaptation, psychological adaptation.
