Abstract. The structure of modern geographical education is built in such a way that students know the geography of continents and the world better than the geography of their region and small homeland. The involvement of children and young people in the study of the riches and nature of their native land is an important component of the pedagogical literature of the school course “Geography of Russia”. Even in the past, teachers noted the importance of studying the native land, which could serve as an effective means of patriotic education and the development of the habit of caring for the Motherland. The article shows the role of the methodology of studying the nature of the native land and natural landscapes for tourism (using the example of the assessment of the Kiginsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan). The aim is to develop a methodology for collecting and systematizing material on the characteristics of natural landscapes for the recreational assessment of their region. The article presents tables on the overtime thematic planning of geography lessons using regional knowledge, as well as recreational assessment of the natural landscapes of the Kiginsky district, which allows you to visually assess the objectives of the study. An in-depth study of his small homeland will help the student to gain the first scientific experience of assessing natural conditions, he will be able to more easily imagine the problems of other regions, countries and the whole globe, knowing his land.

Keywords: geography lessons, native land, natural landscapes, recreational assessment, small homeland, geography of Russia, Republic of Bashkortostan.
