Abstract. The relevance of the article is due to the need to improve the quality of professional training of university graduates, since at the current stage of development there is dissatisfaction among employers with the preparation of university graduates for real professional activities, insufficient development of interaction between the vocational education system and employers, and the absence of uniform requirements for the competencies of university graduates. The authors focus on the fact that at the present stage, not only the professional knowledge, skills and abilities of a university graduate are important, but also his personal qualities. The article identifies key qualities, skills and abilities, according to analysts at VEF-2023, which should be developed in the light of updated modern requirements for the professional training of university graduates. The purpose of the article is to attract the attention of universities, employers and university graduates to the problem of improving the quality of the educational process, to the need for more careful development of basic professional educational programs, wider use of information technologies in improving the quality of education, to the need to develop students’ motivation for the educational process, self-development and self-education. The authors emphasize that professional training at a university should be more practice-oriented, that the number of hours for completing various types of internships should be increased, that in order for a university graduate to effectively adapt to his chosen field of work, an increase in invitations of specialists is necessary. practitioners and employers as active participants in the educational process. The article also focuses on the personal responsibility of a university graduate for his competitiveness, taking into account rapid changes in the field of modern technologies, science and the production of new ones.
