Abstract. The urgent problem of the development of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is the maintenance of discipline among military personnel and law and order in military units. The solution of this problem is possible not only by strengthening control and external control, but also by educating conscious military discipline. The education of the discipline of military personnel on the basis of a conscious attitude to the organization and procedure of military service is a traditional feature of Soviet and Russian military pedagogy. However, after the collapse of the USSR, the tools for educating conscious discipline were almost not used and did not receive the necessary development. Their restoration requires a new understanding of the concept of “conscious discipline of military personnel,” clarification of its structure and content in new socio-cultural conditions. The author presents his own vision of the conscientious discipline of a serviceman as an active active attitude of a serviceman to the order and organization of military service that arises on the basis of professional values. The moral nature of conscious discipline is presented, its essential and attributive characteristics are clarified. The problem of determining the structure of the conscious discipline of military personnel has been solved. The structure and content of the conscious discipline are defined in such a way that it meets the criteria of pedagogical goal-setting. The basis for solving this problem was successful pedagogical experience. Mechanisms for the education of conscientious discipline of military personnel have been established, which can be used as the basis for practical pedagogical tools. The materials of the article can be used by researchers working on the problems of military education, as well as commanders and political workers of military units.

Keywords: conscious discipline, conscientiousness, serviceman, upbringing, values, meanings.
