SELF-ASSESSMENT OF THE SPIRITUAL STATE OF RUSSIAN RESIDENTS: INTERGENERATIONAL AND GENDER ANALYSIS

Abstract. The spiritual state of a person is one of the basic structures of consciousness, one of the regulators of people’s social activity. The purpose of the article is to present the results of the analysis of self-assessments of the spiritual state of the inhabitants of Russia based on empirical research data. The research methods used are sociological, comparative and logical analysis, and correlation analysis. The results obtained. It was recorded that, in general, the spiritual state of the respondents was estimated at 3.79 points on a five-point scale. It is shown that the spiritual state in adolescence is rated the lowest, after which, with each period of growing up, it gets higher and higher. The older a person becomes, the richer his life experience, the higher he evaluates his spiritual state. It is determined that the values of weighted average scores of the spiritual state in adolescence and adolescence are inferior to a similar value in childhood. Conclusions. It is noted that women determine their spiritual state in childhood, adulthood and old age higher than men; in adolescence – lower than men. There is no statistically significant difference in the responses of men and women in assessing spiritual well-being in youth. Intergenerational differences in the subject field of the study are recorded. Some differences in self-assessments of the spiritual state in the intergenerational context have been recorded. At the same time, the elderly age, according to weighted average scores, is higher than the rest of the age periods among the responses of respondents of all generations. The work emphasizes the importance of creating favorable conditions for the spiritual development of a person, his values, which will directly affect the spiritual state and its assessments.
