Abstract. The research is devoted to the analysis of the application of the norms of digital etiquette in university students’ communications aimed at establishing professional and business interaction, in particular, within the framework of the dyad “teacher-student” and “student-teacher”. The criteria for evaluating students’ messages during the content analysis were such parameters as the presence of greetings, representations at the first and subsequent contacts, the style of presentation of the essence of the appeal, observance of ritual norms (gratitude for the answer, farewell), thoughtfulness in choosing the time of contact, following the norms of official business style. It is revealed that there is a difference in the prevalence of etiquette norms depending on which means of digital communication is taken as the basis for the medium of message distribution: messengers or e-mail. The authors analyzed and evaluated potential tools for the formation of sustainable practices for the application of digital etiquette norms in the course of business interaction between students and teachers and other target groups. First of all, we are talking about demonstrating an example of non-ticket compliance on the part of the teaching staff directly during the exchange of messages with students using messengers or e-mail. This is confirmed by the results of the study: in cases where communication was initiated by the teacher, setting the tone and format of online communication with students, the conversation was always conducted in a business style (in 100%) with respect for speech etiquette on the part of the student (in 76% of situations). The knowledge component of the competence under study can be formed during the development of distance learning courses of the Open Education platform, such as “The language of effective communication in the digital environment”, “Ethics of business communication in the digital environment”, “Psychology of media communications of the digital age”, “Digital Literacy”, “Digital Culture”. The authors suggest that it is necessary to actively introduce business communication and digital etiquette courses into educational programs and curricula in all areas of training.
