Abstract. The article is devoted to improving the process of teaching the Russian language to foreign students of a modern university as an important component of their professional competence, a pedagogical condition for mastering the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for successful entry into a future profession, a linguocultural and linguocultural means of getting acquainted with the linguocultural and ethnosocial characteristics of the country of the language being studied, given critical understanding of the problem of studying the process of teaching foreign students the Russian language on the basis of professionally oriented technology based on interactive approaches and teaching technologies. The authors of the article prove the thesis that taking into account the indicated features in the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language to foreign students contributes to their successful adaptation to the conditions of a foreign language environment, stimulates their professional growth, and activates the process of practice-oriented educational activities. The following areas of the problem are discussed: the implementation of motivational, executive and control concepts of the process of teaching Russian to foreign students at a modern university; cause-and-effect relationships between verbal communication skills and motivation for learning the Russian language in the pragmatic and communicative aspects; substantiation of the significance of the considered innovative educational technologies from a didactic point of view; mastering language skills and speech skills, which in the future foreign students will successfully use to more easily master specialized academic disciplines. The process of teaching foreign students the Russian language is built taking into account the specifics of the direction and profile of students’ training, as well as their capabilities and needs; They become acquainted not only with the basic lexical and grammatical norms, but also learn the functional and stylistic differentiations of the Russian language, the distinctive features of colloquial and scientific styles of speech.
