QUEST AS A MEANS OF FORMING PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ UNIVERSAL COMPETENCIES

Abstract. The article deals with issues related to the universal competencies formation among the students of the pedagogical University. The relevance of this research is due to the modern conditions of learning based on competence-based and system-activity approaches, the Higher Pedagogical Education Core, and the use of gamification and quest, information and communication technologies. Basing on the analysis of modern and trends in learning, the authors reveal the possibilities of the quest as a means of forming universal competencies among students of various training profiles. The purpose of this study is to develop an author’s approach to the use of quests in teaching pedagogical university students to form their universal competencies in the context of the Higher Pedagogical Education Core and the use of information and communication technologies. To achieve the goal, the article analyze the domestic and foreign researchers papers dedicated to this problem, the authors’ experience on the use of quests in teaching students and schoolchildren. The authors draw the conclusions that the possibilities of using quests in training are not fully disclosed, specification is required for various training profiles that have their own characteristics. During the study, the authors used such methods as observation, analysis and communication, modeling and experiment. The authors have developed an approach to the formation of universal competencies among students of the pedagogical university. The paper pays special attention to the direction 44.03.05 Pedagogical education (with two training profiles). The article represents the Quest databases compiled by authors and students, analyze the results of the approbation of the author’s approach and the survey of students. The papers describes various possibilities of using quests in teaching undergraduate students in the directions 44.03.05 Pedagogical education (with two training profiles) and 44.03.01 Pedagogical education, as well as for students in the master’s degree, including in scientific and practical activities. At the end of the article the authors have made the conclusions and have outlined the prospects for further research on the use of quests in teaching pedagogical university students to form competencies.
