Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of improving the process of patriotic education of the younger generation, the relevance of which is due to the rapid devaluation of traditional moral values and priorities of youth, the lack of state and municipal programs aimed at optimizing social, economic and political processes in society, taking into account modern social and psychological realities. The upbringing of citizenship and patriotism of the younger generation in the conditions of modern global transformations has acquired particular relevance, since the unity and integrity of our Fatherland depends on the feeling of patriotism, the civic position of young people. The system of patriotic education in Russia requires qualitative transformations that correspond to the goals, objectives and basic provisions presented in the federal project “Strategy for the development of education in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025”. In this article, the authors present some important areas of activity of educational organizations for patriotic education in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania within the framework of mass physical culture work. Among them, the article focuses on such areas of patriotic education as: updating the content of patriotic education, taking into account the leading positions of the regional law “On Patriotic and Spiritual and Moral Education in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania”, the introduction of forms and methods based on the best pedagogical experience in the field of patriotic education and contributing to the improvement and effective implementation of the educational component of federal state educational standards at all levels; acquaintance with the exploits of the defenders of the Motherland, the achievements of Russian scientists, representatives of culture and art, the achievements of outstanding domestic athletes on a global scale; promotion of a healthy lifestyle as the main resource for the labor achievements of the population.
