Abstract. The need to study the economic behavior of the younger generation is due to the current socio-economic situation in the country. The orientations of the economic behavior of the younger generation most adequately reflect the general trends in the economic behavior of the country’s population. The purpose of the study is to study the processes of formation and manifestation of young people’s reactions to the changed economic conditions in Russia. The following methods were used in the study: questioning, statistical and comparative data analysis. 1000 people from 177 settlements of the Sverdlovsk region were surveyed, among them: 67,8 % of women and 32,2 % of men; at the age of 18-20 years old – 70,5 %, 21-25 years old – 10,6%, 26-30 years old – 6,0 %, 31-35 years old – 12,9 %.

Youth assessments studied:

  • features of youth as part of the labor potential;
  • the socio-economic situation in the country now and in the future, as well as their economic situation and their family;
  • opportunities to solve pressing life problems and increase your income;
  • business opportunities.

The results of this study were used in the preparation of the scientific basis for the report of the government of the Sverdlovsk region on the topic “The situation of youth in the Sverdlovsk region in 2021”. The data obtained can be used in the educational process in Russian universities when teaching the discipline “Modern methods of stimulating and motivating young people at the enterprise” for students of the specialty 39.04.03. “Organization of work with youth”.
