Abstract. The authors of the article focus not only on the features of the distance learning process, but also formulate the goal of revealing the importance of the teacher’s personality in the formation of students’ competencies when transferring the educational process to online platforms. The authors put forward a hypothesis that self-development and self-education of a teacher in the «subject-subject» model of building the pedagogical process during the period of active introduction and use of new distance tools will ensure the implementation of educative learning in the era of Digital Humanities. To confirm this hypothesis, the authors of the article describe their own experience of increasing media literacy and participating in activities aimed at self-development of the teacher’s personality, which significantly influenced the interaction with students during distance learning. The article substantiates the main definitions that reveal the issues of the teacher’s self-development process during the transition to online learning through participation in various educational and pedagogical events for advanced training: «pedagogical cooperation», «educational training», «self-development», considered as conditions for the effective interaction of all subjects of educational activities. Achieved results: in the course of the work, the authors come to the conclusion that during the period of distance learning, the teacher, as the central link in the educational process, needs to constantly improve their competencies, knowledge and be motivated to master the digital space.
