Abstract. In the context of globalization on a planetary scale of all spheres of life, there is a transformation of value orientations, priorities, motives and needs. All these processes are due to the rapid increase in the rate of development of the economy, production, education, etc., which, in turn, place high demands on the model of a modern specialist. The changes taking place in the international community, including in our country, have especially affected the education system, since the success of any field of professional activity depends on the level of education, on the acquired competencies by students – future specialists during their studies at school, and then in educational organizations higher level. Based on the foregoing, the author of the article touches upon the issues of training students – future teachers of physical culture on the basis of the competence-based approach, as one of the innovative approaches in the higher education system of the Republic of South Ossetia. This problem is especially relevant in the Republic of South Ossetia, since during the long-term interethnic conflicts in the post-Soviet period, significant damage was caused to the education system in this region. For this reason, all vital spheres of the RSO are in dire need of personnel, which significantly exceed the average statistical indicators of education of graduates of both secondary and higher education. As you know, in order to successfully cope with their labor functions, an employee, first of all, must have good somatic health, generalized skills, manifested in the ability to solve life and professional problems, the ability for interpersonal communication, a high level of information and communication culture, etc.  The article proves the thesis that properly organized physical education contributes to the formation of personality traits that allow it to develop in unity with the culture of society, to achieve harmony of knowledge, creative initiatives, mobility and competitiveness.

Keywords: physical culture, training of future physical education teachers, physical education, competence-based approach, mobility.
