THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE PROFESSIONAL UPDATE OF RUSSIAN OFFICERS

Annotation. The origins and ideological and value bases of the professional education of Russian officers are considered, beginning with the activities of Peter I, who created the first military educational institutions for the training of officers, thereby initiating the formation of a system of their professional education. The author connects the process of professional education of Russian officers with the formation of a sense of patriotism. It is state-patriotic education that is the main factor in the formation of an officer as a patriotic man, a citizen with developed patriotic convictions, feelings, readiness for active action to protect the interests of Russia. In modern socio-cultural conditions, patriotism is the ideological and value basis for the professional education of Russian officers. The main sources of their professional education are: the study of military history; official normative consolidation of requirements to patriotic qualities of the officer; traditions, customs, rituals of the Russian people and their army; Russian ethnic mentality, religious and secular faith of Russians, Russian nature, settlement infrastructure and cultural and educational space of a military high school.
