Abstract. The article is devoted to the use of statistical materials in geography lessons. The article reveals the essence of the statistical analysis method, its relevance and interconnectedness with geographical science. For example, when studying the geography of continents and oceans, students analyze statistical characteristics in climate charts and graphs. This helps to broaden their horizons. It is also important to be able to draw useful and correct conclusions when analyzing data that is published both in the media and in official sources and websites. The merging of geography and statistics during classes at school is a good example of the complementarity of disciplines that develop new thinking skills in schoolchildren. Statistical methods must be used in the system, since it is impossible to operate with bare numbers alone, the numbers themselves are quite difficult to remember. In the process of studying geography, it is also necessary to teach schoolchildren not only to build graphs, diagrams and tables, but also, first of all, to extract the necessary information from them, analyze, and draw conclusions. Identify trends (dynamics) in the development of phenomena and processes over time (for example, changes in the level of urbanization, population in the world, in regions, in countries. To present the results of statistical data processing in the form of tables, charts, graphs and cartodiagrams. As an example for data processing, open statistical materials on the incidence of covid – 2019 in the Republic of Bashkortostan, for internal analysis, and data on the state of Iowa USA were taken. Working with statistical materials is a mandatory element of the geography learning process.

Keywords: geography, statistics, covid, Republic of Bashkortostan, morbidity, school.
