Abstract. The urgency of the work is due to a new stage in Russia’s international and economic development, the growth of the Russian state in ensuring strategic stability and the supremacy of international law in interstate relations. The aim of the article is to study as values among the students of the Cadets and Cadets. It is postulated that the meanings and values of the generic basis of culture, which allows not only to survive its people, but also to successfully develop a person endowed with moral self-consciousness and formed on traditions and ideals that begin to create the world in the context of patriotic feelings. In this connection, a study of the phenomenon of patriotism was carried out through a questionnaire of 150 cadets and cadets, who were asked to answer a number of questions connected with patriotism. Frequency analysis was used to construct the psychosemantic field of the concept of patriotism and its associative series. According to the results of the research, the concept of patriotism was received in the psychosemantic field, the core of which was the definition of “Love for the Motherland” (70%), with an insignificant contribution of all other definitions. The results of application of frequency analysis to the associative series made it possible to distinguish six interpreted clusters comprising from eight to three associations associated with state symbols, emotional-value characteristics, military-professional orientation. The analysis of the results obtained allowed the authors to conclude that the patriotism is inextricably linked with the Motherland in all its manifestations.
