Abstract. The quality of life is an integral characteristic of the conditions of existence of subjects, social groups and is determined by the material, social and cultural needs, values of specific people, accepted social standards, activities of authorities, the peculiarities of regional and territorial systems. The quality of life is expressed through a set of objective indicators and subjective assessments of public satisfaction with such public goods as health, education, ecology, income level, social environment, culture, etc. The purpose of this work is to analyze the characteristics of the quality of life of Muscovites based on the results of an initiative sociological study using the Standard Methodology of the All–Russian Research Program “Socio-Cultural Evolution of Russia and its Regions”, developed at the Center for the Study of Socio-Cultural Changes at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The main research method is an online questionnaire. According to the results of the study, it is shown that most of the social benefits that characterize the quality of life in the metropolitan area are evaluated by respondents mostly positively. It was determined that the respondents’ satisfaction with the work of public transport, municipal clinics, landscaping, and access to education was the highest. The spheres of life of the metropolis are recorded, the degree of satisfaction of which among Muscovites is much lower. First of all, this concerns the work of law enforcement agencies, housing and communal services and the environment. It is shown that for a significant part of Muscovites, such areas of improving the quality of life as combating crime, corruption, increasing wages, improving medical care, the quality of educational services, improving nature, building affordable housing, and solving housing and communal problems are important. Statistically significant differences in the assessment of the quality of life among the respondents were recorded in terms of self-assessment of financial situation and level of education.
