Abstract. Ensuring the professional success of future specialists is impossible without a high level of foreign language proficiency. The development of foreign language communicative competence (FLCC) is becoming the primary goal of language education, and the use of a foreign language as a means of intercultural communication and professional development is its ultimate outcome. This article analyzes, theoretically substantiates, and experimentally tests an innovative approach to developing students’ FLCC using multimedia technologies. It is determined that FLCC requires not only the presence of skills and abilities, but also their appropriate use in a specific speech situation. An analysis of multimedia teaching technologies is conducted, and the feasibility of their use in developing FLCC in future specialists is substantiated. A pedagogical experiment on the use of multimedia technologies in teaching a foreign language in the field of professional communication was conducted. The experimental work was conducted during 2025-2026. In a real-world educational setting, we tested the effectiveness of using multimedia technologies to create a computer-oriented foreign-language communicative environment and their impact on the development of students’ FLCC. The results of the pedagogical experiment showed that the use of multimedia technologies in foreign language teaching helps solve the problem of creating a natural foreign-language environment and will contribute to improving the ICC of university students. Further research prospects include an experimental study of the impact of multimedia technologies on the linguistic (grammatical, phonetic, and lexical) aspects of FLCC in future specialists.
