Abstract. Digital technologies are increasingly becoming an important part of the educational process, opening up new opportunities for developing key competencies. In foreign language learning, they contribute not only to the improvement of language skills but also to the development of critical thinking. Through the use of digital technologies such as interactive platforms, educational mobile apps, and authentic online resources, students gain access to personalized and flexible learning, creating the preconditions for the development of critical thinking. The aim of this article is to analyze the impact of digital technologies on the development of students’ cognitive abilities, including critical thinking, during foreign language learning. The article focuses on identifying effective methods for integrating modern digital technologies into the educational process, as well as analyzing their role in developing analytical and creative skills. Methods: The study utilized comparative analysis, data systematization, and critical reflection on theoretical approaches. The research was based on scientific articles and conference proceedings from the past five years devoted to the use of digital technologies in foreign language learning. Results: An analysis of scientific literature revealed that the latest digital platforms have significant potential for improving the effectiveness of foreign language learning and for promoting critical thinking through tasks that require analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information. Furthermore, digital technologies enable personalized learning, expand opportunities for student-teacher collaboration, and facilitate access to educational resources. The novelty of this study lies in its systematization of digital solutions aimed at developing critical thinking in foreign language learning, including in the context of the effective use of digital technologies to enhance learning. Conclusions: The integration of digital technologies into foreign language learning is an effective way to develop both linguistic and cognitive competencies.
