SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONALIZATION OF SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESSES: INTERNATIONAL PRACTICE

Abstract. The study purpose is to examine international experience in supporting foreign economic activity of small and medium-sized businesses and to assess the possibility of its use in Russian practice. The study is descriptive and secondary data were used for a detailed analysis. The main information sources were research reports, articles, statistical data on the small and medium-sized enterprises activities, world trade and other sources. Abstract-logical method, methods of description, statistical and content analysis were used. The article considers the criteria for classifying companies as small and medium-sized businesses in different countries, provides an assessment of this group impact enterprises on the world economy (number of companies, employment, share of GDP, etc.). The subject of the study is the organizations, instruments and measures of support for the business internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises of various countries, in particular, individual EU countries, the USA, Japan, China, etc. The article presents assessments of the small and medium-sized businesses role in the economy of individual countries, the support for this group impact enterprises on country exports. It was revealed that the tools and measures to support the small and medium-sized businesses internationalization used in different countries largely coincide, but have different volumes and effectiveness. The directions of assistance to SMEs internationalization are systematized, the main ones of which include financial, information, educational and consulting support. It is noted that the specified directions of support of SMEs foreign economic activity are used in Russian practice, but require improvement and development in the international sanctions context.
