Abstract. The authority of Russian higher education in the international arena is largely determined by how foreign students study and how well they adapt to new conditions. Creating a favorable environment where educational aspects are harmoniously combined with socio-cultural ones comes to the fore. The problem of foreigners’ adaptation to a new educational environment, including linguistic, cultural and educational-professional components, is becoming global. This process requires special attention and management. In order to effectively manage the adaptation of foreign students, it is necessary to first identify the problems that need to be solved. The article considers the need to create a pedagogical technology for stimulating the adaptation of Chinese students to the educational conditions of a Russian university. In this regard, an analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature was carried out, on the basis of which the theoretical foundations of the study, methodological approaches to the study of the problem were determined and its theoretical justification was given. The terminological apparatus is given, considering the definition of the following concepts: “methodology”, “adaptation”, “stimulation of adaptation”, “technology”, “pedagogical technology”, “approach”. Based on the general description of the object and subject of pedagogical technology, its focus and basic principles, the main approaches that can be used in designing pedagogical technology for stimulating adaptation are identified, namely: personal-activity, systemic, cultural, axiological and technological. A conclusion is made about the effectiveness of the set of approaches listed, headed by the personal-activity approach.

Keywords: methodology, pedagogical technology, adaptation, stimulating adaptation, approach, Chinese students.
