Abstract. This article considers the problem of adapting the content of the material for teaching chemistry for students whose professional activities are indirectly related to the system of chemical knowledge. This study is devoted to determining the need to adapt the content of educational and methodological material as a way to improve the quality of learning outcomes in chemical disciplines for students of non-chemical specialties. The paper reveals the features of teaching chemistry for students of the direction 44.03.05 “Pedagogical education (with two training profiles)” in the profile “Geography and Ecology” of one of the leading universities in the country. The practical significance of this article lies in revealing the methodological features of the implementation of chemical content in the framework of practical activities in studying the discipline “Chemistry”. The authors analyze the need to adapt and integrate chemical knowledge into the content of the curriculum of geographical and environmental sciences. The main attention is paid to identifying key chemical aspects that will be useful for an interdisciplinary understanding of highly specialized concepts and their application in the professional activities of students. Comparative results of the experimental and control groups on subject results are presented. The paper presents methodological approaches to teaching chemistry that take into account the specifics of non-chemical areas for the vector formation of a holistic understanding of the role of chemistry in students’ future profession. An analysis of the introduction of adapted teaching materials into the methodology of teaching chemistry is provided based on the processing of the obtained data from a pedagogical experiment. The authors summarize the results of a successful pedagogical experiment confirming the effectiveness of adapting the content of chemical education for students in a non-chemical area. The article is intended for teachers, students of non-chemical specialties, and young scientists who are interested in methods for improving the quality of chemical education for students in related specialties.
