FEATURES OF TEACHING ENGLISH ORAL MONOLOGUE TO CADETS OF UNIVERSITIES OF THE FEDERAL PENITENTIARY SERVICE OF RUSSIA

Abstract. The article is devoted to one of the urgent problems of foreign language training of future employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service – teaching English oral monologue (EOMS). The purpose of teaching cadets of higher education institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia EOMS is to ensure optimal conditions for each cadet to achieve maximum individual results in producing prepared and unprepared monologues. Based on the goals, content and methods of teaching cadets of higher education institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service EOMS, the article pays special attention to the selection of language material for training. The article defines the criteria for selecting language material, selects lexical, grammatical, phonetic units, super-phrasal units and complete texts taking into account the level of training of cadets. The selection of phonetic material is based on the criteria of complexity, compliance with communication needs, and normativity. The selection of lexical material is based on the criteria of taking into account the native language, professional and practical value and necessity, communicative value, thematicity, and drill ability. Selection of superphrasal units – based on the criteria of functionality, information content, professional focus, authenticity, taking into account the level of linguistic and professional training of cadets, and the novelty of information. Selection of texts – based on the criteria of integrity, authenticity, professional focus, information content, relevance and significance, taking into account the level of linguistic and professional training of cadets.
