Abstract. The article actualizes the problem of forming the readiness of female students for motherhood in the conditions of the educational process of the university, which is associated with significant transformations of marital, family and parental relations, low birth rate in the country, the need to develop new approaches to the implementation of family education and the preparation of girls for motherhood. It is noted that traditional methods of forming readiness for motherhood with coverage of its physiological and psychological aspects, as well as measures taken by the state to support motherhood, do not solve the problem of increasing fertility. The authors associate the solution of this problem with the formation of readiness for motherhood among girls and young women in the process of obtaining higher education. The article presents the author’s definition of readiness for motherhood and outlines the structure of the phenomenon under consideration. As a hypothesis, it is suggested that it is possible to increase the level of readiness for motherhood formed in students, using the potential of socio-humanitarian and economic disciplines. The methodological basis of the research is characterized, which is based on the leading positions of the systematic, axiological, personality-oriented and activity-based approaches. Information is provided on the organization of the experimental work, participants of the experimental and control groups. The approaches to the correction of the content of socio-humanitarian and economic disciplines, the organization and filling of the practical component of their study, the selection of effective forms, methods and means of teaching are described. The data on the quantitative results of the study and their statistical significance are presented, which allowed us to conclude about the effectiveness of the measures proposed by the authors to form the readiness of female students for employment through socio-humanitarian and economic disciplines.
