FORMATION OF CIVIC IDENTITY AND TRADITIONAL VALUES IN THE PROCESS OF EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY: THE EXPERIENCE OF TEACHING THE DREAMS OF RUSSIAN STATEHOOD [In English]

Abstract. Many public opinion studies show that there is a need in society to pay attention to the education of young people, the formation of patriotism, the development of traditional spiritual and moral values, knowledge of their civil rights and responsibilities. For this purpose, important decisions are made at the state level, regulatory documents (strategies) are approved, new courses are introduced into the curricula of educational organizations. The article is an analysis of the experience of teaching the course “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood” at the State Agrarian University of the Northern Trans-Urals. The article correlates the needs and expectations of society from the education system in matters of educating young people, identified in the course of sociological research. Many of them are included in the content of the new course. For example, approaches and methods for the formation of patriotism, civic identity, commitment to traditional spiritual and moral values. The study used a theoretical analysis of domestic and foreign studies, a survey of first-year students of the Agrarian University of the Northern Trans-Urals who studied the course “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood” in the 2023-2024 academic year. The article presents the results of studying students’ satisfaction with the course, the topics that arouse the greatest interest or the greatest difficulties. The author concludes that the formation of patriotism, civic identity and commitment to spiritual and moral values ​​in the student environment can be effectively implemented within the framework of the course “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood”.
