Abstract. In this scientific article, the authors examine the development of a university digital information environment based on the use of a modular object-oriented dynamic learning environment (Moodle). The article analyzes the advantages and difficulties of using the electronic learning format in the educational activities of a university. The key requirements for e-learning based on the use of the Moodle e-learning system are identified and disclosed: functionality, reliability, stable operation, compliance with standards, the ability to quickly test knowledge, ease of use, access at any convenient time, technical support of the platform. The authors analyze the digital components included in the electronic educational resource. Scientists pay great attention to updating the essence, goals, principles and objectives of the university’s electronic information educational environment, depending on the concept of using the system. The results of an empirical study obtained in the course of studying the level of student satisfaction with the digital information environment of a university are presented, difficulties in its implementation are noted, and prospects for overcoming them are outlined. Based on a survey of students, the most used resources of the electronic system are identified, as well as by using the capabilities of the system itself.  The article provides examples of short and detailed reports generated, as well as statistics on how students mastered the course. Current trends in the development of the digital information environment of the university today are the introduction of artificial intelligence, the development and implementation of a Chabot. The authors provide examples of the use of the Moodle electronic educational environment, not only as part of the educational process, but also as a means of increasing student motivation through the integration of traditional and electronic forms of learning.
