GAPS IN THE RESIDUAL KNOWLEDGE OF STUDENTS OF PEDAGOGICAL AREAS OF TRAINING IN COMPUTER SCIENCE IN THE STUDY OF THE DISCIPLINE «INFORMATION AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGIES IN THE PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY OF A TEACHER»

Abstract. The article examines the difficulties encountered by students of pedagogical training areas during the study of the discipline “Information and computer technologies in the professional activity of a teacher” related to gaps in residual school knowledge in computer science. The relevance of the research topic is due to the recently increased role of the academic discipline “Informatics” in the general structure of general education training for schoolchildren and the requirements for the formation of universal, general professional and professional competencies in the field of information and communication technologies among specialists of various profiles, including future teaching staff. In the course of studying the causes and possibilities of correcting gaps in residual knowledge in computer science among first-year students, which hinder the qualitative development of the specialized discipline “Information and computer technologies in the professional activity of a teacher”, the reasons for the appearance of gaps in residual knowledge in computer science are substantiated and complex ways of solving this problem are outlined. The author believes that a systematic approach to teaching computer science and information and communication technologies at school and university will allow students – future teachers to avoid further difficulties in studying specialized special disciplines based on their previously formed ICT competencies. The article presents the possibilities of filling in the gaps of school residual knowledge and approaches to the organization of a comprehensive study of the computer science course at the university, which precedes the development of the profile discipline “Information and computer technologies in the professional activity of a teacher”. The author comes to the conclusion about the importance of creating a system of teaching an introductory theoretical course with laboratory and practical classes with mandatory testing to find and eliminate gaps in knowledge and skills among students – future teachers.
