Abstract. The article addresses the issue of individualization of foreign language teaching in higher education with the use of digital technologies. The relevance of the study stems from the fact that despite numerous works related to personalization of learning, students rarely choose individual forms of work to master a foreign language program. Questionnaire and analysis methods were used in the work. The survey of MGIMO-University students (n=125) was aimed at identifying students’ attitudes to the possibility of choosing individual forms of foreign language learning within the program, identifying difficulties and the possibility of overcoming them by means of digital technologies. Analysis of the results showed that difficulties are caused by the lack of language environment, insufficient oral practice and the need to master large amounts of information within a short period of time. The majority of respondents have a positive attitude to the possibility of choosing the level of complexity of the program, the pace of its mastering and the use of digital technologies in learning a foreign language. While 68% of respondents have a positive perception of the idea of using an e-textbook as an app on a personal gadget, only 23% of students are willing to give up the printed version of learning materials. The author concludes that students’ positive attitudes towards individualization of learning with the use of digital technologies will contribute to the effectiveness of professional language training.
