Abstract. The article touches upon topical problematic issues in the field of professional training of employees of fire protection units. To assess the effectiveness of their use in the elimination of fires and emergencies, statistical data for the last four years are provided, in which there is a stable tendency to reduce the number of fires and the number of dead (injured) people. The author analyzes the scientific works of scientists engaged in research in the field of improving the professional training of firefighters by introducing innovative complexes and simulators for practical training and honing skills by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. In order to study the impact of practical exercises on the professional training of firefighters, the author developed and tested a set of practical exercises that contributed to the development of fundamental skills and abilities of future employees at the final stage of initial training. The study of the effectiveness of the proposed complex and its role in increasing the level of general theoretical training of firefighters. To confirm the hypothesis, an entrance survey was conducted to determine the level of theoretical knowledge of employees, as well as the level of motivation to serve in the ranks of fire protection units. After the entrance survey, the test respondents performed a sequential series of exercises proposed in the developed complex according to the modular principle, and then passed a repeat survey, answering identical questions, but under the prism of the acquired skills and abilities, which eventually corrected theoretical knowledge. In some cases, a set of practical exercises caused an increase in the indicators of motivation to carry out official activities and contributed to the coherence of the personnel.
