Abstract. The article deals with issues related to the birth, formation and development of the traditional foundations of the Russian family. The features inherent in the life organization of a Russian person are revealed: the role of the family in the life organization of a Russian person; spiritual and moral meanings, attitudes and traditional orientations inherent in the Russian world; features of family life, the meaning and values of the traditional family. The logic of the historical process of the formation of the traditional Russian family from the origins of Ancient Russia to our time is demonstrated; the positions of modern researchers on the problem of traditional meanings and values ​​of the Russian family are revealed; substantiates the need to revive the traditional foundations of the Russian family; substantiates the role and necessity of the union of state and public institutions in the revival and preservation of the traditional Russian family. The authors take a firm position regarding the need for proper state and public support for the preservation and revival of the traditional foundations of the Russian family. We are sure that both the well-being of the entire Russian society and the national security of the country and its sustainable development depend on its well-being. The traditional Russian family is the basic social institution of the Russian state and society. It acts as a custodian and translator of the spiritual and moral meanings and values of the Russian world, the main basis for educating the younger generation, the birth and consolidation of social norms and stereotypes of behavior in society. Love and harmony, kindness and mutual assistance, born in her family environment, fills the surrounding space of the whole country, creates conditions for the formation and development of love for her people, the Fatherland.
