Abstract. The article deals with the problem of cognitive activity of younger students. Subject of research: educational process for the formation of cognitive activity of younger students in extracurricular activities. Purpose: to study the educational process for the formation of cognitive activity of younger students in extracurricular activities. Methods: General scientific methods of cognition, basic methods of empirical research, qualitative analysis of the results. Results: based on the study of psychological and pedagogical literature and analysis of the educational process, the directions of work with children of primary school age on the formation of cognitive activity in extracurricular activities are determined, a social and pedagogical program is proposed. Scientific novelty: the article investigates the activity of the teacher on the formation of cognitive activity. Practical significance: the main provisions and conclusions of the article can be used by teachers on the formation of cognitive activity.
