Abstract.  Human health serves as an indicator of the quality of life for both the individual and society as a whole, while also reflecting the ethical foundations of state social policy. In today’s world, an individual’s well-being and prospects for personal and professional growth depend directly on their health—a concept increasingly viewed not merely as the absence of disease, but as a multifaceted resource that determines productivity, stress resilience, and the capacity for self-realization. Amidst environmental degradation, constant psychological stress, a lack of physical activity, and the prevalence of unhealthy habits, the challenge of optimizing one’s lifestyle and elevating the value of health within one’s overall priorities has become particularly acute. Adverse environmental factors and a high-paced lifestyle compromise the body’s protective mechanisms, increase fatigue, impair psycho-emotional well-being, and ultimately diminish the quality of life. Consequently, cultivating a culture of health is no longer just a personal matter but a vital social mission requiring a systemic approach involving the state, educational institutions, and society at large. This issue is of particular importance for students pursuing specializations in sports, sports management, sports administration, and pedagogy. Their future professional roles require them not only to adhere to healthy lifestyle principles themselves but also to act as advocates and disseminators of the associated knowledge and skills. They will be responsible for teaching others how to effectively use physical education and sports to improve health, fostering public motivation for regular physical activity, and developing physical training programs tailored to the specific needs and characteristics of diverse population groups.

Keywords: health‑preserving behavior, self‑preserving behavior, social well‑being, public health, health‑preserving culture, healthy lifestyle.
