Abstract. The article considers didactic resources for improving the effectiveness of practical training with military university cadets as resources for the systematic application of learning patterns and principles in goal setting, content and methodology of training and conducting practical classes. The deep interrelation of goal setting, content and methods of conducting practical classes is stated. In the methodology of practical classes, special attention is paid to the step-by-step architecture of the lesson: the introductory part, the main and the final. The article substantiates proposals for improving the methodology of conducting each stage of a practical lesson, as well as methods for overcoming typical problems of students (different pace of work among cadets, fear of making mistakes, and loss of motivation). The article focuses on the systematization of interactive teaching methods and pedagogical techniques used in conducting practical lessons at a higher military school.The specification of modern interactive methods has also been implemented: brainstorming (with a gradual transition from generation to critical analysis), the rotation method (providing interchangeability and leadership experience), role-playing games (forming emotional stability and communicative competence), cross-training (implementing the “everyone teaches everyone” principle), quest technologies (simulating the execution of a combat mission through a storyline and search), and VR/AR simulations (providing a balance between psychophysiological realism and absolute safety). The article describes such techniques as sudden tactical introductions, role-playing of episodes, competitive methods, and organizational and managerial practices (rotation and delegation of team functions). The article substantiates the position that only a broad reliance on the application of the laws and principles of teaching, as well as the comprehensive integration of content, methods, and techniques in practical classes, can transform the theoretical knowledge of cadets into stable skills and abilities, and then into professional competencies that are ready to be applied in combat situations. The article is intended for military university professors, methodologists, as well as specialists and students interested in improving the quality of education in higher education institutions.
