ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AS A TOOL FOR DEVELOPING EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR TEACHING FOREIGN-LANGUAGE VOCABULARY AT HIGHER EDUCATION
UDC 378.147
Abstract. This article examines artificial intelligence as a tool for developing educational materials for teaching foreign language vocabulary at a university. The research materials include scientific and methodological sources on the research problem, as well as educational materials generated by a neural network. The research methods used included analysis, synthesis, and generalization of scientific sources, as well as a practical approach to developing educational materials using the ChatGPT neural network. It is noted that the neural network uses template language models, meaning that what is initially written in the request will be presented in the response. It is revealed that the teacher, clearly describing in the request how the product should be created, visualizes it using AI. Recommendations are formulated for using AI in developing exercises for each type of speech activity. Examples of requests for generating exercises to reinforce vocabulary on the topic “Work. Interview” are provided. The characteristics of educational materials developed using artificial intelligence are identified. It is noted that when teaching vocabulary, it is advisable to use AI for compiling glossaries, plans, modeling situations, visualizing the material being studied, and developing certain types of exercises. It is determined that AI is effective only if the request is described in detail, with a clear description of the task, the data presentation format, parameters, and conditions. It is concluded that AI is a technologically effective tool, primarily for developing visual educational materials and tasks requiring analysis and algorithmization, provided the request is described in detail and the parameters are clearly defined.
