Abstract. Quality of life is a key category in modern scientific analysis, reflecting the level of socioeconomic development and the degree to which material, social, and spiritual needs are satisfied. In the context of increasing digitalization and persistent socioeconomic inequality, studying the relationship between the population’s financial situation and their social well-being, life strategies, and integration into the digital environment is particularly important. The aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics of Muscovites’ self-assessment of their financial situation and identify its relationship with social well-being, work attitudes, identity, and digital practices. The empirical basis of the study was data from an online survey of Moscow residents (N=1,070), conducted according to the standard methodology of the All-Russian scientific research program “Sociocultural Evolution of Russia and Its Regions.” The study revealed significant differentiation of the population by level of material well-being, with the middle class dominating and the presence of significant financial constraints for the majority of respondents. Gender and age patterns in income distribution were identified, as well as the relationship between financial situation and family status. Income levels have been shown to significantly influence assessments of living standards, social optimism, and life and work satisfaction, as well as determine differences in work strategies – from a focus on stability to a willingness to take risks and pursue entrepreneurship. A close relationship between financial status and digital inclusion, psychological well-being, and the nature of social interactions has been identified. Processes of increasing digital and socioeconomic inequality, polarization of quality-of-life assessments, and a tendency toward self-perpetuation of social stratification have been documented.
