Abstract. In this scientific article, the authors consider the processes of digital transformation of the higher education system. The authors comprehensively explore the issue of digitalization of the higher education system in theoretical and practical aspects. They analyze the digital technologies used in the higher education system. The positive and negative trends of the digital applications used are highlighted, as well as their impact on the quality and effectiveness of the formation of professional competencies in the training of students. Based on the study of trends in the digitalization of the higher education system, the analysis of scientific literature and regulatory documents, further directions for the introduction of digital technologies have been identified. Modern society is characterized by the active introduction of digital technologies in all areas of our lives. The higher education system also does not stand aside, but corresponds to modern changes in society. The digital strategy of the higher education system is a complex, multi-level process. Digitalization of the higher education system is not just the introduction of various digital applications and services into the educational process, but the transformation of educational paradigms and the change of methodological approaches in the educational process of the university. The relevance of this study is due to the need for a comprehensive study of the digital transformation of the educational environment of higher education institutions. It is important to consider not only the technical implementation of the systems used, but also the methodological features of changing pedagogical paradigms. The changing technological environment of the educational process of higher education institutions is increasingly focused on the development of digital competencies, the ability to find professional solutions in new, changing conditions.
