Abstract. The article examines the problem of forming professionally important qualities (PIQs) of a future foreign language teacher in the context of digital transformation of education. The authors substantiate the inclusion of digital competencies in the structure of PIQs as an independent component, along with traditional communicative, organizational and gnostic qualities. Based on the analysis of theoretical approaches (V. D. Shadrikov, A. K. Markova, L. M. Mitina) and modern research in the field of digitalization of education (P. V. Sysoev, A. A. Prokhorova, E. N. Vikhrova), research gaps have been identified related to the lack of a holistic nomenclature of PIQs that takes into account the digital component, insufficient development of methods for using digital educational resources (DERs) and the lack of criteria for their selection. The article proposes general and specific criteria for selecting digital educational resources, focused on the formation of PIQs of a future foreign language teacher. Specific criteria include: potential for modeling professional activities, the possibility of organizing collaboration, development of reflective skills, support for intercultural interaction, the possibility of creating author’s content and the professional orientation of the resource. The article presents examples of tasks demonstrating the possibilities of using DERs for the formation of didactic, digital and reflective competencies. The results of the study can be used in the system of professional training of future foreign language teachers, as well as in the development of educational and methodological materials for the integration of digital technologies into the educational process.

Keywords: professionally important qualities, foreign language teacher, digital educational resources, digital competencies, criteria for selecting DERs, professional training.
