Abstract. Federal standards for training academic staff in Russian higher education institutions insufficiently address the development of postgraduate students’ methodological readiness for scientific and pedagogic practise. This study aims to tackle this problem by defining effective approaches to its development. The purpose of this work is to identify and substantiate a set of methodological approaches that effectively enhance the methodological readiness of PhD students for professional and pedagogical activities. The research employs a comparative theoretical analysis of Russian and international pedagogical practises and a systematic review of scholarly literature to establish a theoretical framework. As a key result, the study posits the set of methodological approaches: systematic, competent, activity-based, integrated, social and digital, acmeological, learner-centred, and postgraduate-centred. For each approach, the core principles and their contribution to the motivational, cognitive, and operational components of methodological readiness are elucidated. The scientific novelty lies in the development of an integrated framework that synergistically combines these approaches to address existing gaps in postgraduate pedagogical training. It is concluded that the systemic implementation of the proposed methodological approaches provides a comprehensive foundation for modernising postgraduate education, equipping PhD students with the competencies required by the contemporary labour market and enabling their effective performance in professional and pedagogical activities.
Keywords: methodological approaches, methodological readiness, professional-pedagogical activities, PhD students, postgraduate training, higher education, competencies.
