Abstract. Digital transformation of education is driven by the development of distance learning and the integration of specific interactive tools into the educational process, contributing to the formation of new personal and professional qualities among students that are relevant to modern society. In this regard, metacompetency serves as a fundamental component of professional training for future foreign language teachers, ensuring proficiency in digital tools, intercultural communication, and linguodidactic skills. The aim of the article is to identify and theoretically substantiate the methodological foundations of forming the metacompetency of future foreign language teachers using distance learning tools. The novelty of the study lies in identifying the potential of competency-based, meta-disciplinary, personality-activity, and informational approaches for effectively forming future foreign language teachers’ metacompetency in the context of education digitalization. Based on an analysis of researchers’ positions, the author’s definition of future foreign language teachers’ metacompetency is proposed. The methodological approaches presented by the author contribute to achieving the goal of the methodological research of this scientific phenomenon. Special attention is paid to substantiating the principles used to implement the above listed methodological approaches. The author concludes that the identified methodological approaches and principles form the basis for developing pedagogical conditions, diagnostics, and methodological support for the process of forming future foreign language teachers’ metacompetency through distance learning tools.

Keywords: methodological approach, future foreign language teachers’ metacompetency, competency-based approach, meta-disciplinary approach, personal-activity approach, informational approach.
