Abstract. The article devotes to the teaching course of “Probability and Statistics” in grade 7 in the aspect of considering ways to overcome the difficulties that students experience when studying the relevant sections. The paper considers the current state of this problem based on the data given in scientific sources and the authors’ practical professional activities. The authors conclude that research in this direction is relevant, in particular, due to the novelty of the course itself, as well as due to the lack of existing educational materials and insufficient preparedness of teachers. The article describes the reasons for some difficulties. The authors represent their comprehensive approach to learning the seventh grade students to the “Probability and Statistics” course. This approach includes various forms and methods of work, realizes all basic didactic principles gives an important role to the teachers training. The authors represent the complex of created materials for grade 7 and for the students of the pedagogical university and for the teachers. The article presents a fragment of a brief theoretical minimum, some tasks reflecting the essence of the approach and give the information about the results and analysis of the test of the developed approach in teaching school students, students of the university, and teachers at advanced training courses. The paper notes a generally positive experience, which shows the usefulness of the developments. According to the authors, it is advisable to continue research on this topic with the expansion of grades 8-11 and in the field of training of future and existing mathematics teachers.
