RESEARCH ON THE VARIOUS FACTORS INFLUENCE ON THE JUNIOR STUDENTS INDEPENDENT WORK IN MATHEMATICAL DISCIPLINES

Abstract. Currently, at the state level, a concept of a new education model is being adopted. The enhanced teaching of fundamental disciplines and qualitative practice-oriented approach are the main components in this model. The concept of “learning” characterizes an organized process generated by the interaction of two activities teaching and studying during which education, upbringing, and development take place. The skill of independent work is a fundamental factor in learning. Independent work refers to an educational activity form in which the student completes tasks and studies material without direct supervision or assistance from the lecturer. It involves active participation in the learning process as well as the possession and development of many skills, for example self-regulation, responsibility, initiative, etc. The authors’ research is caused by the need to improve the quality of learning disciplines (including mathematics) studied in a modern university. Different generations of students have various life values; they possess skills aligned with the technical capabilities of modern society; and have experienced constantly changing teaching approaches in school. Studying these differences and understanding these helps to organize a more effective educational process. The aim of this study is to examine the factors influencing the independent work of “modern” junior students across three key areas: psychological, physiological, and methodological; as well as to obtain feedback from first- and second-year students. The paper presents the results of a student survey addressing the main factors under investigation that affect the self-organization of academic activities. The survey was conducted with the aim of organizing the educational process in a way that maximally engages students in learning, making the process more effective and interesting for each individual learner.
