Abstract. The article examines children’s anxiety and its relationship with fears, self-esteem, and parental attitudes. At the beginning of the article, a review of literary sources has been conducted to answer the question of the essence of the phenomena of anxiety and fear. A comparative analysis of the main approaches to understanding their origin and possible connection with other individual psychological, age and personal qualities of a person has been carried out. In connection with the highlighted issues, a certain age group, teenagers, has come into the focus of our attention. Age-related features of fears are revealed. It has been empirically proven that the following are interrelated: fear of learning and high anxiety; secrecy, caution and anxiety; high levels of anxiety and parental attitudes. The study involved students from schools in Moscow and the City Psychological and Pedagogical Center of the Moscow Department of Education and Science, the Territorial Branch of Babushkinskoe. A block of psychodiagnostic techniques was conducted with them: the Spielberger Khanin anxiety test; the method of studying parental attitudes (Parental Attitude Research Instrument); the graphic method of M.A. Panfilova “Cactus”; the questionnaire “Types of fear” by I.P. Shkuratova; the projective method of A. I. Zakharov “My fears”. The phenomenon of anxiety is a human trait that causes a state of growing concern, a sense of fear and anxiety in situations where the social condition is quite specific. The role of an anxious person in frequently occurring emotional experiences related to excitement and zeal: fear, dread, horror. A person feels a threat to his own self from everything around him. Studying at school always increases anxiety among students at all levels. The factors that provoke anxiety are most often in the form of school maladaptation, overwork, internal conflict, emotional vulnerability, excessive demands on the student, an inflexible dogmatic educational system that ignores their own childish activity, as well as indifference to her interests. The significance of the study lies in the fact that the material we have collected can be used in further development of this issue; also, the results of the study can serve as a basis for developing a program to correct school anxiety and fears in schoolchildren. At the present stage, experts have noted a tendency towards a high increase in fears among children (V. V. Abramenkova, I. V. Dubrovina, A.S. Spivakovskaya, etc.). We believe that the study of this phenomenon among schoolchildren will provide an opportunity to determine the right approaches to its solution.

Keywords: school anxiety, fears, adolescents, desire for loneliness, secrecy and caution, introversion of adolescents, family conflicts.
