Abstract. The article presents the features of the legal regulation of insurance of foreign economic relations. Insurance is considered as an institution of economic and legal regulation. Insurance of foreign economic trade activity as an economic category originates in the form of marine insurance, as a necessary and inevitable regulation of economic and trade risks. In the context of the dangers associated with maritime transportation, it became necessary to protect investments by commercial entities of foreign economic trade. Thus, the basis of marine insurance has been formed, designed to minimize financial losses arising from damage or loss of cargo. Ancient civilizations such as the Phoenicians and Greek navigators had already practiced similar methods, providing their trading expeditions with protection from the inevitable risks. Over time, marine insurance has become part of broader financial systems, evolving and adapting to changing trading conditions. Today, it continues to play a central role in the global economy, reflecting the dynamics of human activity and the need for stability and confidence in the market. As it developed, it retained its roots, confirming the importance of protecting sailors and their goods in unknown waters. Currently, insurance is one of the strategic factors for the effective functioning, successful development of the country’s economy and the strengthening of its foreign economic relations.  Insurance provides exceptional strength to the relationships of all participants in the international market and creates conditions for its successful functioning based on international legal norms. Insurance of foreign economic activity is an important tool that protects the interests of participants in international cooperation. It includes many areas that cover various risks associated with the export and import of goods, as well as other forms of international activity. Thanks to this mechanism, companies can minimize potential financial losses due to unforeseen circumstances. Insurance objects at the present stage are becoming more diverse and multifaceted, covering not only traditional types of risks, but also specific aspects of international trade and finance. Export-import cargoes, their vehicles, as well as related export credits require careful analysis and assessment of risks associated with logistics and foreign economic activity. International trade and industrial exhibitions held in Russia and abroad with the participation of foreign companies open up new horizons for business cooperation, but also require adequate insurance coverage to protect investment interests. The property of foreign companies operating in Russia faces risks that require special attention, including civil liability insurance. One of the key objects of insurance is export-import cargoes. It is important to take into account not only their physical safety during transportation, but also the possible risks associated with delays, damage or loss. This is especially true for high-value and fast-turning products, where any improper handling can lead to significant losses.
