Abstract. Modern education strives for harmonious development of the individual, including not only professional training, but also intellectual, aesthetic, physical and social improvement. Free time (leisure) is usually defined as a period of time when a person, not having mandatory affairs (work, household chores, study, food, sleep, etc.), is left to himself in choosing activities. In the conditions of modern society, leisure is understood by the younger generation as active recreation that can bring aesthetic pleasure. Cultural and leisure activities are an integral part of this process, contributing to the development of creativity, communication skills, the formation of value orientations and adaptation to society. The activities of the teaching staff in the cultural and educational aspect should be aimed at creating certain conditions for education, that is: programs, events, projects affecting both the academic and extracurricular time of the student. This article presents an analysis of the state and problems of organizing cultural and leisure activities of college students with a chemical-technological profile. The article examines the existing forms and methods of organizing leisure time for young people in Kazan, identifies their compliance with the needs and interests of students, and identifies problems that hinder the full development of their personality in the extracurricular sphere. The paper presents the results of a study conducted among students of the Kazan Technological College of the Kazan National Research Technological University, analyzes the factors influencing the effectiveness of organizing cultural and leisure activities, and formulates recommendations for improving the existing system. The study is relevant in connection with the growing importance of extracurricular work in the formation of a harmoniously developed personality and the adaptation of graduates to professional activities.
