FORMATION OF SOCIO-CULTURAL COMPETENCE AMONG STUDENTS OF A NON-LINGUISTIC UNIVERSITY IN THE FRAMEWORK OF TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Abstract. The article reveals the problem of the development of socio-cultural competence among students of non-linguistic universities through the process teaching foreign languages. In particular, the concept of socio-cultural competence and its role in the education of a comprehensively developed personality of a future specialized specialist are revealed. The author gives a brief objective analysis of the current status of the cultural component in the educational process. The study presents the possibilities of optimizing the process of developing socio-cultural competence through traditional and innovative methodological and technological approaches. Specific methods and resources are described that can provide high-quality training for specialists, as well as help teachers create relevant and effective cultural content. The potential and advantages of using virtual and augmented reality technology for educational purposes are considered separately, the main advantage of which is the full involvement of students in the educational process and, consequently, the maximum effectiveness of the formation of their speech competencies. The material presented in the article allows us to conclude that a modern teacher has at his disposal sufficient tools for the formation of cultural literacy of students, as well as to predict its further deeper implementation in the learning process. At the same time, all the methods described in the article can also be used in teaching other disciplines that require knowledge of foreign cultures and the ability to speak competently.
