TEACHING RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN THE CONTEXT OF BILINGUAL EDUCATION

Abstract. The article highlights some problems of bilingual education in Russia. Many years of experience in teaching foreign students in the intermediate languages ​​at Astrakhan State Medical University, where Russian is both a subject of study (in primary courses) and a means of teaching and learning disciplines (in senior courses), are presented. The author considers the main objective of bilingual education is a formation of bicultural professional competence of students. According to the results of the survey, it can be argued that students from North African countries speak 3 or more languages, and students from South Africa mainly speak their native language and English or French.According to the opinion of the author, bilingual education is aimed at interiorization and socialization of the individual in course of the humanistic and cultural approaches, at the formation of a harmonious personality that can effectively participate in intercultural communication. In the process of bilingual education, students develop foreign-language communicative and cognitive competencies, the ability to successfully participate in intercultural communication, as well as, an interiorization of professional competencies by Russian and an intermediary language.
