Abstract. The authors examined the main provisions of medical geography and cartography. The article discusses the possibilities of medical-geographical mapping for the study of one of the most acute problems of modern society – drug addiction. The factors that affect the health status of the population are noted. The place in the content of medical statistics is particularly emphasized, namely: methods for processing medical-statistical and analysis of clinical, laboratory medical experimental data, which are widely used in the process of work and practical activities for the medical care of the population. A review is given of the use of statistics in practice. Based on statistics on the drug abuse situation in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a map of the number of drug addicts in the region was compiled. The article provides an overview of the number of hospital beds in drug treatment clinics of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The authors used the work of scientists studying the geographical distribution of diseases, as well as data from state statistics. Medical geography arose at the intersection of the interests of geographical science and medicine. The article discusses the possibilities of medical-geographical mapping to study one of the most acute problems of modern society – drug addiction. Today, addiction has become a terrible disease of modern society; he, like the litmus test, shows the problems of the socio-economic sphere of any state. Statistical materials and research methods are widely used in medical geography in the process of medical and geographical assessment and diagnosis, regionalization, modeling, mapping, etc. In medical geography as directly in the process of medical and geographical research (assessment, analysis), and in its interests either ready-made statistical data (information) or materials from a specially planned and conducted medical-statistical study can be used.

Keywords: medical geography, medical-geographical mapping, statistics, drug addiction, the spread of diseases, medical statistics in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
