Abstract. One of the most important and enduring issues facing the state is the upbringing of the younger generation. Fostering and reinforcing traditional spiritual and moral values, as well as a sense of civic identity among young people, have become priority state objectives. Responsibility for addressing these tasks traditionally rests with the education system. This is primarily because the education system encompasses the country’s population aged 2 to 23. This article examines the phenomenon of professionally oriented patriotism among students at the country’s pedagogical universities. It substantiates the idea that the patriotism of a future teacher possesses a distinct character rooted in professional activity; thus, love for one’s homeland transforms into a commitment to serving society through the instruction, development, and upbringing of the younger generation. This study elucidates the multi-component structure of professionally oriented patriotism. Its components – cognitive, behavioral, emotional-evaluative, and motivational-need-based – are described in detail. Aspects characterizing the specific nature of professionally oriented patriotism are identified, and the pedagogical conditions necessary for the effective development of this form of patriotism among students at pedagogical universities are determined. The paper outlines various ways of organizing student activities within the framework of a higher education institution’s core functions: educational, research, practical, upbringing-related, social and living, and international activities. It presents a profile of a pedagogical university graduate capable of effective professional practice in the modern context. The key criteria defining this graduate profile are civic maturity, value-based leadership, methodological preparedness, and social mobility.
