Abstract.This article provides a comprehensive historical and pedagogical analysis of the formation, development, and current trends in the organization and training of teachers in the field of career guidance for schoolchildren and students. Based on a study of regulatory documents from the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, as well as modern scientific works, four main stages in the evolution of this field are identified. Stable patterns and key trends in the development of career guidance work and teachers’ readiness to organize and adapt it to the conditions of new regions of the Russian Federation are identified. According to a survey of teachers in the city of Berdyansk and the surrounding area, 78% noted difficulties in organizing career guidance for schoolchildren and students, 56% of respondents had no teaching experience or little (less than three years) teaching experience, and 60% of respondents lack knowledge of career guidance work taking into account the age and individual characteristics of students, but understand its importance. Only 2% of the teachers surveyed completed 36 hours of online professional development courses on organizing career guidance work with children. The need for a regional model of supplementary teacher education, taking into account the specifics of new regions in the area of ​​career guidance for schoolchildren and students, was identified, as well as for the development of a methodological system for supplementary teacher education in the new regions in the area of ​​career guidance for schoolchildren and students within the context of the implementation of the regional model. Promising areas for improving supplementary vocational education were identified, taking into account the objectives of the socio-economic integration of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, as well as the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics into a single educational space in Russia. The obtained results have both theoretical and practical significance for education authorities, advanced training institutes, and pedagogical universities
